a muslim manager who i had previously worked for contacted and asked me to resign my position at work. and to work for his company.I sent my CV and he told me that he had given it to his plant manager who was pleased with it. He told me that my company was about to fold and I needed to resign and be taken on by his company before it became common knowledge. He swore me to secrecy which I kept. after 2 -3 weeks of calls and promises, including an offer to help me purchase a car, he specifically said that 'we keep our promises' I trusted him as we had talks about Islam on many accasions in the past. he even invited me to his home, which I was flattered as I knew that Muslims dont usually do that. Eventualy after several promises I did as he asked and resigned. He told me that I would have to wait a month but the job offer would come through the post. after keeping in touch he stopped calling and after a a couple of months he rang me and told me that I should not have listened o him. I was devastated as I only followed his instructions as he had contacted me, been persistant but most of all because he used his Muslim faith to endorse his promose

I dont think at this points. It`s more important to remember you are a human then you are a muslim. You should be honest and a good person, not only for your religion but also for your own respect. Therefore I dont think you should break your promise.

A muslim can't break a promise, even if it was as insignificant as the twig from the tree - Our beautiful Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)
