How to spank wife

+4 votes
I am a young European woman happily married to a wonderful Muslim man and we live in his homeland. Before we married, he honestly explained every detail of a muslim marriage. I liked the idea that he would be the provider and guardian while I would only have limited responsibilties and have accepted the idea that in return he would be dominant and I the obedient one. He also openly explained the benefits of spanking the wife in Islam and asked that I accept it as part of our marriage. He told me, and I researched it, that Islam only permits mild spanking that does not leave any marks and is applied only to body parts where there can be no injury. I also learned that such spanking is more a reconciliation than a punishment and prevents bigger marrital problems. So I agreed. I have been a good and obedient wife and my husband is great provider and loving partner. During the past 19 months, he spanked me only 7 times, with his hand on my bare buttocks. I am wondering though if this is an approved method.

I dont understand why would you punish your wife by slapping her butt? This sounds more like a fantasy, instead of religious requirement. If you need to punish your wife, there are many other methods which are also explained in Quran.

read it again
Actually the Quran is very specific on this.  In Sura Al Nisa section 6 it is written

As to those women
on whose part ye fear
Disloyalty and ill conduct. admonsh them first
next refuse to share their beds
and last spank them
But if they return to obedience
seek not against them
means of annoyance
for Allah is most high
Great above you all.

I have had occasion to spank my wife several times, never without a warning, never without a good reason. She is spanked  nude with a strap my father in law grave me for just this pupose. I seldom need to use this strap, a warning most always gets her back on track in her duties as a wife.

Why would hitting or slapping your wife lead to reconcilation? I can't imagine my husband slapping me and then wanting to jump into that marital bed with him. I'd be hitting him over the head with a frying pan. Spanking as a kinky thing to do while engaging in marital relations... well, that's a different story. I'm non religious btw. It sounds like your husband is a bit kinky... and that would lead to reconciliation.

He must not have marital relations with her on the same day she is punished. If you are into this kink, I am sure you would know the difference between an erotic spanking and one given as punishment. Religious or not.
The same as when you spank a naughty child. They are contrite and sorry and only want to be assured that the love and approval of the person who spanked them is still intact. This is why punished children want to be held by the person who administered the spanking. Think about it!

You spelled Muslim wrong and if you want to post a comment get your facts together. This is not an opinion poll  we are talking about human lives and relationships.

Just for the record ... I am not a Muslim. Domestic violence and domestic discipline between 2 consenting adults are 2 entirely different things. Muslims did not invent domestic violence. They are for the most part a peaceful and loving culture. Terrorist exist EVERYWHERE...Muslims did not invent terrorism either.

Ok I know about physical discipline in Islam. It neither said it was okay to "slap" your wife nor did it recommend hitting on the buttocks. I wouldn't advise it because of sexual feelings.

This comment is for the anonymus person who advises against spanking due to sexual feelings.
Erotic arousal from a senual spanking is entirely different than a spanking delivered for discipline. Look at it like gently kissing a girl on her soft lips, filled with passion and lust vs. an asshole that slams you up against a wall pins you there crams his tongue down your throat, biting your lip in the process. Maybe this is not the best example as you should trust and love the man giving the spanking knowing it is in your best interest. The point is one can make you very aroused while the other can be painful enough to turn your g-spot off.

I laughted a lot reading your message. Because it sounds like your husband just likes to spank :)

Spank sounds like a kinky way of enjoying your slap. Especially if its to buttocks.

I am a person who was born muslim and i have never heard of spanking. However there is slapping. I am not a scholar or something but in our culture, its ok to slap your wife only when there is a huge issue and there is no any other solution then breaking up. Slapping is the last option to try to keep the relationship.

I am 99% sure it doesnt say anything about spanking on the buttocks anywhere in Quran. But i remember there are some parts in Quran that is taking about slapping your wife and punishing her for specific reasons.

Therefore i would personally talk to the husband to clarify this action and its reasons. Spanking on the buttocks is not an Islamic way of punishing your wife.

If you look up the word slap it means to strike with an open hand(palm). The Quran clearly does say that a husband can punish his wife as a last resort, as long as he does not inflict injury to her. Never to slap the face. It is completely up to the discretion of the husband when where why and how he chooses to punish his wife. An erotic spanking would be fruitless on his behalf if he truly just wanted to spank her, because it also says not to have sex with her on the same day she is punished. Therefore, if in truth he just likes to spank her, I hope he would do it on a day when they could both enjoy it.
What is an Islamic way of punishing your wife?
