How true that in the past women were degraded and used as objects of lust?

I was walking down the street when I saw a couple and they are happily dating and I was thinking if Muslim women are also dating? As I arrived home I do some research about Muslim women and I saw this history in the internet that the past women of Muslims are used for lust.
