Islam is often a faith, like all religions it's its tranquil adherants and its violent kinds, like all religions its holy reserve consists of writings espousing peace and its writings espousing violence.
Inherantly violent? I doubt it. at lest not more than every other religion, but its radicals are definitly more so. You can find myriad theories concerning why it seems so easy to radicalise muslims but thats a discussion for social experts.
