Allah, may He be renowned, loves those people who believe that, for that reason He causes faith dear to them. And then He hates those who disbelieve and disobey Him, unless that they repent. Whenever Allah permits a person to believe that and then makes faith dear to his heart, and makes the believers dear to him and makes him dear to them, and he peoples lives and dies following that, then he will be one of those with whom Allah loves. But if Allah makes faith and obedience hateful to anyone, as well as He makes disobedience dear to his heart, and he makes those who are disobedient dear to him and makes him dear to them, and he lives and dies soon after, later he will be some of those with whom Allah cannot stand. But we will not certainly that whatever particular individual is one of those whom Allah loves, just as we will never be certain that any particular individual is regarded as those with whom Allah hates. It is essential to understand or know that Allah, may He be glorified as well as exalted, may hate a person at one time and love him at another time, according to his deeds.
