Shia people follows Ali (Muhammeds cousin) and believes Ali is a prophet who should have taken over after Muhammed. Shia people also believes that Muhammed pointed Ali as his successor.

Sunni people believes Muhammed is the last prophet who had no successor. He didnt point anybody as a person who should take over the religion after himself.

So basically Shia Muslims follow Ali more than they follow Muhammed. But Sunni Muslims doesnt follow nor believe anybody than other Muhammed.

Am sorry the first person who anwsered may have misleaded you. Shia do not think Ali is a prophet nor do they follow mohamad more than ali.

They believe that Muhamad peace be upon him, appointed ali as his successor and they have many proofs proving their point, proofs that are found with the sunni and shia scholars.
