Islam is based on Sharia law, not democracy or monarchies or political groups at all. Sharia is islam and islam is sharia. Most muslims countries do not practice sharia and if they do it is not as it should be. The government and the laws of Sharia are based on the Qur'an and the laws of religion. Most muslim countries have adopted a new kind of government and political systems (i.e, The Peoples Republic...).That is one of the main reasons many middle eastern countries are always involved in a civil war and are trying to keep western influence from infiltrating their countries. Some are devoted to trying to keep Sharia alive and others think they want the freedom of democracy.
